There is a lot of hype right now on the Metaverse. But what is the Metaverse?
The Metaverse is a universe that is completely virtual. You can be anyone you want and look like anything you want. The Metaverse is a whole new way of socializing, playing, and doing work. Through the Metaverse we are able to interact with people without physically having to be with them. Metaverse is a combined reality, featuring augmented reality, virtual reality, video games, and social media. You need a headset to access the metaverse. Majority people, including myself, use Oculus Headsets. I have the Oculus Quest 2 so I have the ability to be remote and use it wherever and whenever. I also have an Oculus Link to connect my quest to my computer to access more video games, extensions, and unlock more to the Metaverse. I recommend buying both the Link and the Quest compared to buying the Rift. That way you have the ability to be mobile and don’t have to bring your computer with you.
The Metaverse is a game changer, but does everyone have enough money to afford the equipment? Oculus Quests cost from $300-$600. If you would like to use the Oculus Link, you’d have to buy it for $80. To be able to use both the link and the headset, you would need a computer/gaming pc. That will always range from $1000-$4000. There are other devices that will enhance your experience, but are not needed. Right now, accessing the Metaverse is pricey and costs more than the average person makes a month! I am hopefully that new developments in technology will create more afforable hardware to make this more accessible to everyone…. just a matter of time!
