My 2022 Project Week – Part 2

On day four, we drove to Montgomery where we visited the Civil Rights Memorial in Montgomery, Alabama. We learned about the innocent people who were killed. The killers were off the hook for most of the cases and those innocent people would have died for nothing. That day we mainly learned about the sad stories of people who just existed. It was really sad to hear the ways they died and see no punishment for the killers. After seeing the memorial, we drove to Selma where we marched along the Edmund Pettus Bridge. This was a life changing event for me. It was very empowering and I truly felt what the people marching across that bridge in 1965 felt like. Either you kept marching or you had to jump off of the bridge into the water. It was an amazing experience to look at where tent city was and where they marched along the bridge.
