Why Vanderbilt Summer Academy (VSA)?

There are many reasons why I think VSA would be a good fit for me. My first reason is the fact that I am really invested in technology. I really enjoy learning about the digital world and using technology. My second reason is I grew up in the digital world my whole life and I am interested in studying the implications of that, especially when I compare it with kids/ adults who have not been as exposed to technology. I started off with a blackberry where I would play basic games like pong and brick breaker. I would watch youtube and various creators. When the iPod touch came out my childhood was changed. Music changed my life a lot. When I was 6 I got my first iPad. I was introduced to many social media platforms and entertainment sources. My whole life I’ve grown up in the digital world. I am looking forward to learning more about how the digital world impacts human behaviors, how it creates stereotypes and biases in humans. I think that this camp will also help me understand more about the digital world. I think the biggest part of the virtual world that is really new is the post covid digital world. I find it fascinating that quarantine forced so many individuals to explore the digital world. It feels like without covid most of us wouldn’t be as tech savvy. I look forward to bringing all these rich experiences to the VSA summer camp, sharing my experiences with others and in-turn learning from them.
